General Assembly #7

7-8 December 2023, Uppsala, Sweden

In a beautiful snowy landscape, the SIMBA consortium met on the 7th and 8th of December at the Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden for the pre-final General Assembly to discuss the progress on its research and development project on sodium ion batteries for stationary applications.

During the assembly, the presented work package presentations made clear that many of the originally planned Objectives on Material KPIs and their upscaled production into sodium ion battery cells (see https://simba-h2020.eu/ ) were (close to being) achieved. A great achievement by the SIMBA partners! In addition, learnings on the remaining challenges of solid electrolyte in (upscaled) cell production were also presented.

In the upcoming final (six) months of the project, integration in a battery module is planned to be tested by partner Yunasko, in close collaboration with Warwick University. Furthermore, good and fruitful conversations took place on how to reach the remaining (sub-)objectives (such as on (open) data and exploitation) within the remaining six months of the project.

By the end of day 1, the SIMBA partners had the pleasure to visit the Altis R&D site where a large part of the research and development concerning the SIMBA cathode was taking place.
