The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is a non-profit organization and Europe’s largest institute for applied research. It has about 80 research institutes all over Germany. It conducts application-oriented research to benefit the economy and society at large. The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) is Europe’s largest solar energy research institution and part of the Fraunhofer society, a non-profit organization for applied research.
In this project Fraunhofer ISE will develop a novel low-cost battery management system that is maximizing the battery lifetime by operating the cells in their perfect operation window. The use of cell integrated sensors gives a sound feedback for the model-based state estimation, ensuring a safe and reliable battery operation.
